The devil was going around again and everyone knew because it was in the papers. Pretty draper’s assistant, Lily Shine (19) from Cabra West, was dancing with a fellow in the Ballerina Ballroom when she felt something funny, looked down and fainted. It was the Cloven Foot!.
Actress, writer, director Ena May, returns with the much praised stage-adaptation of her acclaimed book ‘A Close Shave with the Devil’, which brings to life early 1950’s Dublin, as seen through the eyes of her intrepid heroine, ten-year-old Eily Doolin.
Tender, insightful, tragic and hilarious, this one-woman show captures perfectly the atmosphere of post-emergency Dublin and the social nuances of the time. In her narrator Eily, Ena May has created the perfect voice for that sometimes painful journey from childhood innocence to adult awareness
Hungry for a bargain? Enjoy our Dinner Theatre special at 7pm on 30th Sep. Get your ticket for the show and a 3 course meal served in axis’ café for only €25.
