                        Axis Ballymun

                        Breaking Ground & Ballymun, 2001 - 2009  - 23rd October 2009 to 1st January 2010

Breaking Ground presents its final exhibition at axis, displaying highlights from 8 years of the ‘per cent for art’ scheme programme. From the illumination of the Boilerhouse in 2001 by Andrew Kearney, to a major school photographic project by Perry Ogden, to the conversion of a tower block as a hotel by Seamus Nolan, this exhibition presents documentary photographs, maquettes and a timeline showing the history of the project. To coincide with the exhibition Breaking Ground will launch final projects by Paul McKinley at Poppintree Community Centre, and Kevin Atherton at Balcurris Park. An art trail map will also allow visitors to explore works of art all across Ballymun, and a publication will document the entire project, which has been one of the largest and most respected per cent for art programmes in the history of the State.
