Local artist John Duffy presents a ten year retrospective of his work and its developing themes related to personal loss. A comprehensive exhibition charting the various related themes, styles, items of obsession and overall journey that the last ten years have taken him on as an artist. The work ranges from the pain depicted images of the ‘The Guardians’ to the contemplative magpies of ‘One for Sorrow, Two for Joy’. The emotional interiors and the up beat colourful abstraction of ‘Coming Down in Colour’ will present the viewer with an insight into an ongoing process of recovery and emotional regeneration of an artist over a ten year period. Duffy hopes to allow himself and the viewer to reflect on how the power of art and creativity can affect the individual and support us all in times of turmoil and of peace.
