Róisín agus An Rón (SOLD OUT)

Éiríonn Róisín mór le rón agus gan aon tuairim aici go n-iompóidh sé ina bhuachaill amach anseo chun teacht i gcabhair uirthi. Taispeánann sé domhan iontach fó-thoinn dí. Buaileann siad le hiascaire santach darb ainm Mícheál Mac na Mara agus tá sé ar tí an domhan seo faoi thoinna scriosadh. Tarlaíonn go leor eachtraí ina dhiaidh sin!
 
English
Róisín befriends a seal, little knowing that when she is in danger he will change into a boy to save her. They meet a greedy fisherman, Mícheál Mac na Mara, who threatens the underwater wonderland he has shown her. Adventures ensue when Mícheál is forced by a tribunal of seals to help the children find the boy’s lost sealskin – his only means to return to his world.

Make Some Noise

Join Ballymun Fairtrade Steering Committee as they celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight with an evening line up of varied music acts, plus special guests from near & far. GAP Ballymun, and the more recently formed Ballymun Fairtrade Steering Committee, has promoted Fairtrade since 2001, and for 8 years Fairtrade projects and events have been organised to promote awareness. Acknowledging the hard work of GAP and the Committee, Ballymun was made Dublin’s first Fairtrade town in 2006, and was voted ‘Best Fairtrade town in Ireland’ 2008.

Made famous by the classic movie with Liza Minnelli and Julie Walters, ‘Stepping Out’ is a gentle heart-warming comedy following one man and an unlikely troop of women – ranging from a feisty Koren girl to a terrified goody-two-shoes housewife who is secretly abused by her husband - in their weekly tap-dance class.
 



The Pictures: The Kite Runner

With over 160 members, ‘The Pictures’ is more than just a film club, it has become a great social network for the over 55’s in Ballymun and surrounding areas. ‘The Pictures’ takes place in our 211 seater theatre, so you can enjoy the big screen in comfort. Showing a wide variety of films, from classics to modern, there is something for everyone. This month's members pick is 'The Kite Runner'.



Guthanna Éagsúla/Many Voices

House of Fun: Jason Byrne (SOLD OUT)

Kicking off this season in style is Jason Byrne with his show ‘Jason Byrne’s Telly Idea which may also work on Radio Show’.
 
In 2007 Jason Byrne and John Henderson wrote a show for the Edinburgh Festival. In an irrational and irresponsibly egotistical move they decided to try and piss off critics, tv executives, promoters and everybody in the business they had thus far been trying to impress.

An evening with Brenda Ridgeway 

18th February 2009
Internationally known psychic medium Brenda Ridgeway makes her return to axis bringing her gift direct to the audience in Ballymun. Brenda will give a demonstration of mediumship with loved ones that have passed over as well as psychic messages, all in the comfort of axis’ theatre. The Legend of Luke Kelly 

13th February 2009
On 30th January 1984 it is said that the whole of Ireland grieved the early death of Luke Kelly. He left an incredible mark as being the greatest folk artist of the 20th Century.
 
In October 2001 a band formed to pay tribute to the king of balladeers in a show entitled ‘A Tribute to Luke Kelly’. It was launched in Dublin’s Hotpress HQ before an audience which included Luke’s siblings and relations and proved to be such a success that the band were booked for a three month residency at the Olympia Theatre.



Lunitic 

7th February 2009
Local rapper Lunitic premieres his first full solo show in axis. Formerly of Urban
Intelligence, Lunitc has opened for some of Hip-Hop’s big name, such as Snoop Dogg, Melle Mel, Lloyd Banks, & Kanye West. Snoop Dogg was so impressed by the Urban Intelligence EP, he advised promoters to also book them to support New York rapper Nas.
 



Waiting for IKEA - SOLD OUT

Chrissie and Jade spend their days waiting; waiting for the postman, waiting for the kettle to boil and waiting for Coronation Street. They won't shop in Argos 'cos we're waiting for IKEA'.
 
Set in the heart of 'new' Dublin, where night wear is day wear and bitching is
everywhere. Pimlico flats is akin to 'Cheers', everybody knows your name, your business, your record and what your having for dinner.
