Finders Keepers by Peter Sheridan 

25th May 2010 to 29th May 2010
‘Finders Keepers’ is the coming of age story of Pancho, his best friend Redser and their urgent young lives spent on the Royal Canal.

Set in North Inner City Dublin, against the background of the declining Dublin Docklands of the early 1970’s, the play gives insight into the larger than life world of teenage imaginations.

The Parting Glass by Dermot Bolger

Before it’s world premiere in June, axis presents an exclusive run of previews of the new play from acclaimed writer Dermot Bolger. Even before it’s opening, ‘The Parting Glass’ has been invited to take part in the Underground Zero Festival at the PS122 venue in New York this coming July! Shot through with caustic wit and sharp home truths, ‘The Parting Glass’ is an examination of Ireland over the past two decades, and Thierry Henry’s left hand!

Paula lives in the Ballymun flats. A young mother in her twenties, she lives her life for others, for her children and also for her younger, wreckless sister Roxanna. But when love presents itself, Paula is conflicted. Can she take a chance on Dan after her bitter past experiences with men? Is Dan really as different as he says he is, or is Paula setting herself up for another heartbreak?



The Underground Sessions 

22nd April 2010
Launching a new axis Underground Studio music open mic night, showcasing local and national musicians, plus singer-songwriters and bands trying out new material in a stripped down semi-acoustic environment. There may be preview nights earlier in the year. 



DINNER THEATRE: La Locandiera

A seductive innkeeper Mirandolina has every man at her feet – they cover her in diamonds and cower about her like puppy dogs. Until ‘the declared enemy of Italian women’ - the Ulster Gentleman checks in. Piqued, Mirandolina vows to vindicate her sex – by making him fall in love with her. Who will lose the night? Hungry for a bargain? Enjoy our Dinner Theatre special from 6.30pm on both nights. Get your ticket for the show and a 3 course meal served in axis’ café for only €25.

Bealtaine

From song-writing to cinema, visual art to theatre, ‘Bealtaine’ at axis will celebrate and showcase the talents and skills of both established and first-time older artists. It is a chance to ‘give it a go’, to enjoy, see and to make new and challenging work. ‘Bealtaine’ creates the space to explore creativity and to discover talents until now unseen.
