When Jolie Met Christie

When Christie Hennessy passed away in 2007, Ireland lost one of the greatest songwriters of his generation. A unique performer whose songs have been recorded by artists such as Christie Moore and Frances Black, he had for some time, been planning a special new performance telling the story of his life and work to premiére at axis. Sadly this was not to be, but axis' director Ray Yeates, writer Seán McCarthy and well-known RTÉ presenter and broadcaster Aonghus McAnally have continued to work together to produce this new cabaret-theatre piece about Christie's life. With over 160 members, ‘The Pictures’ is more than just a film club, it has become a great social network for the over 55’s in Ballymun and the surrounding areas.

‘The Pictures’ takes place in our 211 seater theatre, so you can enjoy the big screen in comfort. Showing a wide variety of films, from classics to modern, there is something for everyone. There is one screening a month (usually the last Monday of the month).

‘Actions’ is the biggest hit dance by John Scott and Irish Modern Dance Theatre. Recently performed in New York, Tanzmesse NRW, Germany and Dublin Dance Festival to rave reviews and wild audience acclaim.
 
 ‘Actions’ is a physical conversation between two individuals in empty space by two outstanding male dancers. ‘Actions’ is a battle through the space using physicality, lifts, falls, text and sound, the dancers alternately throwing their bodies together then fragmenting into threads of raw movement. ‘Actions’ is both funny and exciting. ‘Actions’ tours in 2011 to Edinburgh Festival and throughout the USA.
