The Pictures: White Christmas

‘The Pictures’ takes place in our theatre, so you can enjoy the big screen in comfort. Showing a wide variety of films, from classics to modern, there is something for everyone. There is one screening a month which is usually the last Monday of the month. With over 160 members, ‘The Pictures’ is more than just a film club, it has become a great social network for the over 55’s in Ballymun and the surrounding areas.



The Forever Young Chorus 

20th December 2009
This choir based Finglas is proving that age is just a number with their lively covers of well-known pop songs. The Forever Young Chorus have won the hearts of many with their pure and earnest renditions of Coldplay numbers, Bob Dylan classics and Blondie hits.

The group, which was established two years ago, consists of 30 people from the area who are all in the over 65-age bracket. Led by musical director Chiara Browne, the popular and frequently booked choir is funded by City of Dublin VEC and is the first of its kind in the country.

CONFERENCE: Outside In

Outside In offers an opportunity for the arts and disability sectors to come together to explore, debate, discuss and connect ideas of practice as well as providing showcase opportunities for artists with disabilities. The overall theme of the conference will centre on access within contemporary arts practice, with cultural equality and innovation at its heart.

Be Aware... Be Very Aware

Music gig featuring various acts in aid of Aware. Featuring Jaded Sun, Machinegun Baby and a guest MC. Under 18's gig will be at 3pm and over 18's gig will be at 8pm.



House of Fun: Eric Lalor, Dean Scurry & Willie White

Eric Lalor, Dean Scurry & Willie White are coming home; bigger & bolder than ever. They have all come a long way since they started; being mentored in axis' conference centre by Des Bishop as part of RTÉ's 'Joy in the Hood'. After playing gigs separately all over Ireland and abroad, they're back in their hometown and reunited for one night only.

AS PART OF TRAVELLER FOCUS WEEK: Mobile 

2nd December 2009
As part of Traveller Focus Week 2009, axis is delighted to host the play ‘Mobile’. ‘Mobile’ is written and performed by Michael Collins, a member of the Irish Traveller community who has been an advocate of Traveller human rights for over 20 years. Michael would be most known for the role of Johnny Connors in RTE’s ‘Glenroe’, which he starred in for over 10 years.

An Triail

The popular puppeteers are back with their nationwide tour for schools, particularly for Leaving Certificate Curriculum. This year the award winning company brings you ‘An Triail’, but this is ‘An Triail’ as you’ve never seen it before. Prepare for puppets, high entertainment and such engaging visuals that you’ll actually WANT to answer questions on it.

Double Bill: The Lost Weekend/Conditioned 

10th November 2009 to 14th November 2009
Get two for the price of one with this exciting Double Bill. ‘Lost Weekend’ written by Gillian Grattan & ‘Conditioned’ by Maria-Ann Hylton were first presented in axis in Nov ‘07 as a rehearsed reading during the ‘Playground’ series, an axis initiative that supports emerging writers giving them the opportunity to showcase new work.
