‘The Pictures’ takes place in our 211 seater theatre, so you can enjoy the big screen in comfort. Showing a wide variety of films, from classics to modern, there is something foreveryone. There is one screening a month (usually the last Monday of the month) ‘The Pictures’ is an initiative of Dublin City Council Arts Office and axis, in association with access>Cinema.

When Christie Hennessy passed away in 2007, Ireland lost one of the greatest songwriters of his generation. A unique performer whose songs have been recorded by artists such as Christie Moore and Frances Black, he had for some time, been planning a special new performance telling the story of his life and work to premiére at axis. Sadly this was not to be, but axis' director Ray Yeates, writer Seán McCarthy and well-known RTÉ presenter and broadcaster Aonghus McAnally have continued to work together to produce this new cabaret-theatre piece about Christie's life.

The Block

The Tinker's Curse 

25th May 2011 to 26th May 2011
'The Tinker's Curse', tells the story of a travelling man who climbs Croagh Patrick to do penance for the sins of a lifetime.
 
Harding plays Rattigan, a traveller old enough to remember when the travelling people had a place in the scheme of things, fixing pots and pans. Along the way we meet his wife Julia, the 7th daughter of a 7th daughter, his daughter Michelle, who is blissfully unaware of the effects of her blossoming sexuality, and Johnny Reilly, a "buffer" or settled man who comes a courting. 'The Tinker's Curse' is a funny and sad night in the theatre; a rare insight into the joys and sorrows that make up a life.

Lunchtime Concert

Heads On Stage

The Block Easter Show 

28th April 2011 to 29th April 2011
For almost 4 years local award winning dancer Natalie Barnwell has taught hip-hop in axis' dance studio with an army of eager young people turning up religiously each Friday to take part in her class.
 
Now for the first time, the group will perform on their own, showcasing some of the best local dance talent right here on axis' stage. The showcase will also feature the latest dance craze to sweep Ballymun and YouTube - the Shuffle. A great night out for all the family
