LiFT 

28th March 2012 to 4th April 2012
‘LiFT’ will be back with a bang this March, with a weeklong programme of events, workshops, exhibitions, talks and showcases.
We are pushing the boundaries this year as we make Ballymun the destination spot for Youth Arts – the place for young people to be and be seen! Any questions about the festival just pick up the phone and call Emma Connors on (01) 883 2136. Any young person can get involved, so now’s the time to hear your ideas or for you to join our Youth Festival Committee, so get in touch!



Write Away 

1st March 2012 to 1st May 2012
Funded through Young Ballymun’s Literacivic bursary Write Away is all about igniting a community’s imagination & inspiring people to write. axis in partnership with Fighting Words, a creative writing centre established by Roddy Doyle and Sean Love, launch Write Away, a new writing project involving up to 60 local residents – men, women, older people and young people who will be given space to explore their creativity, to perform and to publish their work.



Elephants and Jam 

1st March 2012 to 1st May 2012
Elephants and Jam is a really exciting early childhood creative research collaboration between axis’ crèche and visual artist Orla Kelly. It aims to bring together insights of understanding, knowledge and experience held separately by crèche workers and artists, believing that together their formidable skills substantially contribute to a more creative, nurturing experience in early childhood.



Nightspot 

1st March 2012 to 30th March 2012
2012 marks the start of a new arts night for women called NIGHTspot. NIGHTspot is all about creating a space and time for women to meet up regularly, have the chats and try something new and ‘arty’!! Taking place every second Wednesday (from 7.30 – 9.00pm) axis will open its doors to women from Ballymun and beyond.
The focus each evening is on trying something new – learning a dance routine, trying your hand at song writing, making Chinese lanterns in the art room, recording a story in our underground studio, seeing a show in the theatre or learning about new artists over a cup of coffee.



Printmaking 

1st March 2012 to 31st March 2012
This is an exciting print making project for 2012 starting March for adults that will be run in association with Graphic Studio Dublin. A series of print making workshop will run over 6-8 weeks in axis’ art room.

TEA CHESTS & DREAMS: Writing Competition 

13th February 2012 to 23rd March 2012
As part of its celebratory nature, Bolger is inviting women from his audience to share the stage and add their own real-life stories to the mosaic of lives being portrayed. Between now and March 23rd, women of all ages are invited to submit a 600 word account of their recollections of their first night in a new home to axis: Ballymun. Soundwaves 

1st February 2012 to 29th February 2012
After the success of recent courses axis’ Underground Studios will be running another series of sound training courses. These courses will begin in February. Areas to be explored will include set-up, multi-channel recording, editing and Pro-Tools



Tales 

1st November 2011 to 1st December 2011
This arts-in-education project, now in its 5th year, will see axis facilitate storytellers entering the classrooms of a number of schools in the North West area of Dublin to work with pupils and teachers in creating new and magical worlds through story. Book Now



Sing 

1st November 2011 to 31st January 2012
axis will again be offering local people the opportunity to work for 8 weeks with singers from the National Chamber Choir and perform alongside the choir in a
special Christmas event in our theatre. ‘Sing’ starts early November. ‘Sing’ is in association with Dublin City Council Arts Office and The National Chamber Choir.



Otherworld Festival 

31st October 2011
It’s that time of year again – it’s Ballymun’s Otherworld Festival. Coming to the Ballymun Plaza on 31st October!
 
Music, theatre, exhibitions,scary stories and films will be on offer for all the family to enjoy. Take part in the Halloween parade, visit the open tents with games,
food, costumes and masks. ‘Otherworld’ will have something for everyone with street performers, Circus, magicians and dancers providing the entertainment.

Elephants and Jam

Visual artist Orla Kelly will engage with the children and crèche workers in axis’ crèche from October to January through a variety of art forms aimed to stimulate and delight. The engagements will inform an action research project investigating creative practice and early childhood. Book Now
