Tales 

1st November 2011 to 1st December 2011
This arts-in-education project, now in its 5th year, will see axis facilitate storytellers entering the classrooms of a number of schools in the North West area of Dublin to work with pupils and teachers in creating new and magical worlds through story. Book Now



Sing 

1st November 2011 to 31st January 2012
axis will again be offering local people the opportunity to work for 8 weeks with singers from the National Chamber Choir and perform alongside the choir in a
special Christmas event in our theatre. ‘Sing’ starts early November. ‘Sing’ is in association with Dublin City Council Arts Office and The National Chamber Choir.



Otherworld Festival 

31st October 2011
It’s that time of year again – it’s Ballymun’s Otherworld Festival. Coming to the Ballymun Plaza on 31st October!
 
Music, theatre, exhibitions,scary stories and films will be on offer for all the family to enjoy. Take part in the Halloween parade, visit the open tents with games,
food, costumes and masks. ‘Otherworld’ will have something for everyone with street performers, Circus, magicians and dancers providing the entertainment.

Sound Waves

After the success of last years programme axis’ Underground Studios will be running another series of sound training courses. These courses will begin in October. Areas
to be explored will include set-up, multichannel recording, editing & Pro-Tools.

Elephants and Jam 

1st October 2011 to 31st October 2011
Visual artist Orla Kelly will engage with the children and crèche workers in axis’ crèche from October to January through a variety of art forms aimed to stimulate and delight. The engagements will inform an action research project investigating creative practice and early childhood. Book Now



Devise 

1st October 2011 to 31st October 2011
axis in collaboration with with the Rehabilitation Integration Services of the HSE will deliver an acting/devising project which will see participants from a rehabilitation process explore, devise and script a short piece.

In Motion 

1st September 2011 to 30th September 2011
axis is delighted to offer ‘In Motion’, our hugely successful arts-in-education programme, to all schools in North West Dublin from September 2011.

axis
works with the school and class teacher to devise a project tailored to the artistic needs of the particular class. Dance, art, singing, songwriting and drama are some of the art forms that we can offer. ‘In Motion’ sees an experienced facilitator work in the classroom for one hour per week for a minimum of six weeks. The project finishes with a celebration event in the school.

Tales 

1st November 2010 to 2nd December 2010
 
A troupe of storytellers take their skills to the classroom allowing children to escape into new and magical worlds.
 
Over six weeks, they will capture the imagination of over 180 children within the primary schools of Ballymun, teaching them fantastical and beautiful stories while inspiring creative ways of communicating and listening. This event will culminate in a celebration event on December 17th.



Orchestrate 

1st November 2010 to 1st April 2011
Funded through the Arts Council Young Ensembles Scheme, and
in collaboration with the Ballymun Music Programme, this project will see up
to 16 young musicians, rappers and singers come together as an ensemble to
compose and create a piece of new music and a video installation incorporating
rap, hip hop, classical instrumentation, jazz, vocals and electronica. This
project will run from mid October 2010 to March  2011. The young people will be mentored by Dean Scurry, Michelle Mooney and Ron Cooney. For more information contact Dean Scurry on (01) 883 2100 or Mark O’Brien on (01) 883 2147.

Youth Arts Writers Residencies 

1st November 2010 to 30th December 2010
 
Initiated as part of ‘LiFT Youth Arts Festival’ 2010, these residencies will see writers engage with youth organisations/schools in the Ballymun area to develop participation in writing practice and a sustainable young writers network/group. Material created will later be published online. ‘LiFT Youth Arts Festival’ is core funded by The Arts Council and Dublin City Council with additional support from the festival’s partner organisations.
