Rehearsal Rooms and Recording Studio: Underground Studios

The recording studio and rehearsal rooms in the Axis Arts Centre go under the name Underground Studios. It consists of 3 main areas,

• recording studio
• live room
• and rehearsal rooms.

The facility aims to be as versatile as possible to suit all needs. In the past we have had recorded

• storytellers and interviews
• drama and music workshops
• rehearsals
• local history for archiving
• workshops and soundscaping
• bands
• solo artists
• vocalists with backing tracks
• voice overs
• sessions with musicians filling each room

To date the genres that we have encountered included Rock, Reggae, Irish, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Country, Punk, Trad, Folk, Indian, Classical and Comedy.

 
   

 

Recording Studio

The recording studio uses the industry standard Pro-tools recording system. With a 32 channel desk and an array of outboard, the studio is fully equipped for all projects. The live room, directly connected to the recording studio, is a wooden floored recording environment with the ability to change the room dimension and acoustic. It is used for vocal and overdub recording. It has also been used for small group recording. The rehearsal rooms both have multicore connections to the recording studio allowing for multi room recording. 
 

Rehearsal Studios

Rehearsal are a popular activity with bands taking advantage of our late opening hours, security, clean facilities and creative enviornment.

All rehearsal rooms are equipped with

• full P.A. plus two mics, stands & leads
• guitar & bass amps
• drum kit (cymbals & hi-hat clutch not included)

Rehearsals are usually for four hours but different times can be arranged.
