LiFT Youth Arts Festival

May 2010

Year 5 of this festival and what a year.

Attendances doubled since 2009. With 1142 people attending films, workshops, exhibitions, music gigs and theatre. The festival youth panel programmed, designed and co-facilitated and we launched a major Writer in residence programme.

New to this year’s programme was the Unplugged Sessions, conducted by Julie Feeney, Colm Quearney (Q), Dylan Connolly and Nicholas Codd. As well as music workshops there was a Film Making project with Dean Scurry and Greg McDonagh as well as DJ workshop with DJ Moschops. Also Maser worked with a group of young people towards a large scale urban art piece

Film buffs also had the chance to see some award-winning movies such as The Hurt Locker and The Class as part of Lift@The Movies, a festival of film screenings for schools in conjunction with the IFI
