‘The Dream Factory’ is an exciting summer arts project for children and young people aged 6 – 18. This project will take place from 20th - 31st July 2009. To register your interest in ‘The Dream Factory’ call axis on (01) 883 2100. Prices from €30 for two weeks. Limited places available, advanced booking advised. Some scholarships available.

Year three of this major and hugely successful arts in education project in conjunction with the West Yorkshire Playhouse Leeds, and funded by Provident Financial will see artists across all art forms engage and work with over 500 young people and 24 teachers across Ballymun’s National Schools. This six week project will culminate in major celebration events in both axis and the schools involved in February 2009.

Watch out as Ballymun Plaza (located in front of axis) transforms into a Medieval Village. Join in the fun which will be taking place inside the Medieval tents. Activities such as music, theatre, exhibitions, scary stories and films, will be on offer for all the family to enjoy.

Funded through Pobal/Dormant Accounts this major Digital Media Project will see axis working with up to 100 young people and 4 film artists in Trinity Comprehensive, BRYR, Youthreach and the wider youth sector to create a new piece of digital media. The participants will learn skills across all areas of digital media and the finished product will be screened as part of the ‘Lift Youth Arts Festival’ 2009.

axis will be offering the opportunity for 12 people to workshop with singers from and perform alongside the National Chamber Choir in a special Christmas event in axis on Dec 17th at 6pm where the National Chamber Choir will perform Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols. ‘Sing’ is in association with Dublin City Council Arts Office and The
National Chamber Choir.

axis welcomes the Dublin Electronic Arts Festival to Ballymun to run a day long workshop as part of ‘DEAF Junior’, introducing young people to, and giving them hands-on experience in the digital arts. This will culminate with a showcase & awards ceremony of the children’s finished work in a city centre venue during Festival Week (23rd -27th Oct). DEAF is run by veteran Irish music label D1 Recordings and is every year further cementing its reputation as one of the most forward-thinking events of its kind in Ireland’s festival calendar.
1st October 2008 to 12th February 2009
Funded through the Arts Council's young ensemble scheme and in partnership the Ballymun Wind Band Project. This 20 week programme sees 20 young people from different musical backgrounds come together to develop a new piece of music facilitated by artists Q, Dean Scurry and Ron Cooney. This project will finish in February 2009 with an installation piece in axis.
19th September 2008 to 28th September 2008
The young people from the 'Invent' project are taking their talents to the masses. First stop Smock Alley Gallery, as they have been invited by Temple Bar Properties to perform their writing and stage their exhibition as part of Culture Night on Sept 19th. Following this, the gang head to Farmleigh House as acclaimed author Dermot Bolger stages an event called ‘New Voices of Ballymun’ on Sept 28th.
17th September 2008 to 10th December 2008
‘The Music Ensemble’, a new music project commences weekly from September. This project will see professional artsists with backgrounds in songwriting and sound recording, facilitating up to 25 young people. The participants will develop skills in writing, playing and recording their own individual and collaborative music/spoken word and songs.
15th September 2008 to 24th October 2008
The second year of this project we will work with Gaeilscoileanna in Ballymun, Glasnevin, Finglas and Cabra. ‘Gliondar’ will explore the arts-in-education during a six-week adventure of art through Irish.
