Re-Invent 

1st October 2010 to 1st June 2011
 
‘Re-INVENT’ a music and song-writing initiative that will commence in January 2011.
 
‘Re-Invent ’ is a peace and reconciliation initiative to begin January 2011 through which axis will collaborate with Strule Arts Centre, Omagh to engage with three youth groups, two from Omagh and Poppintree Youth Project in Ballymun. This project, based upon our previous ‘Invent ’ project, will see the participants develop songs, poems and writing. It will be researched and developed from Sept to Dec 2010, workshops will begin early in 2011 and it will culminate in celebration events in Ballymun and Omagh in Spring / Summer 2011



Culture Night - 'Coming into Our Own' 

24th September 2010
Presented by axis: Ballymun in association with ‘Telling Women‘s Stories’ Location: Smock Alley Court, West Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2. Time: 7pm – 9pm
As part of ‘Telling Women’s Stories’, a collaborative initiative between Ballymun Women’s Resource Centre, Drop in Well Family Resource Centre and youngballymun, axis was commissioned to work with a group of local women through the visual arts.

axis and ‘Telling Women’s Stories’ are delighted to present not only this exhibition but a new installation piece specially commissioned for Culture Night 2010. This promises to be a lively and interactive space, where the public can touch, move and contribute to a number of pieces exhibited – an evening where Ballymun women share stories about their lives and chat about their work and their artistic discoveries.
 



Jigsaw Youngballymun: Youth Participation Programme 

5th September 2010 to 8th October 2010
 
As part of ‘Jigsaw’ youngballymun’s ongoing commitment to meaningful youth participation, axis has been commissioned to develop a six week project with a group of young people to prepare a short film for Mental Health Week.
 
The short film will be shown at various events throughout the week which runs from the 4th - 8th October 2010, culminating in World Mental Health Day on the 9th October. The theme for the week is ‘Get Connected’. This project will see the young people directly involved in the design, development and creation of a final end product, in consultation with axis and Jigsaw youngballymun. 
 



Film Making: If That's Your Attitude... 

1st September 2010 to 8th October 2010
 
axis in association with GAP (Global Action Plan) are devising a short film piece with young people from the Ballymun Jobs Club on the theme ‘The Environment’. The project participants will be young people aged between 16 and 24 (10 – 12 people) who are associated with Ballymun Job Centre. The project will be facilitated by axis artist in association, Dean Scurry and will run from Sept – Oct 2010. This project is supported by BRL.

The Dream Factory

‘The Dream Factory’ is an exciting summer arts project for children and young people aged 5 – 20. This project will take place from the 19th - 30th July 2010. To register your interest in ‘The Dream Factory’ call axis on (01) 883 2100. Prices start from €40. Limited places available, advanced booking advised.Some scholarships available.

Sound Recording Training 

5th April 2010 to 25th June 2010

axis will advertise for 12 young people/youth workers/teachers to come on board for this exciting studio training course in axis with a professional engineer. Areas to be explored will include set up, multi-channel recording, editing & Pro Tools.




Lift Ballymun Youth Arts Festival 

24th March 2010 to 31st March 2010
It’s back and it’s bigger. This year’s programme will be designed and developed with young people and will include film screenings, gigs, exhibitions, theatre and workshops in a range of art forms including sound recording, dj-ing, animation and dance. The festival will take place in axis, The Reco, Poppintree Youth Project, the library and local schools. Fore more details download the full programme of events on our homepage.



Spark 

11th January 2010 to 19th February 2010
An additional and 4th year of this major and successful arts-in-education project, funded by Provident Financial and developed in conjunction with West Yorkshire Playhouse Leeds, will see artists across all art forms engage and work with over 500 young people and 24 teachers across Ballymun's National Schools. This six week project will culminate in major celebration events in both axis and the schools involved in February 2010.



Otherworld @ Ballymun Plaza

Youth Arts Strategy 

13th October 2009
This consultation process has seen many people engaged in focus groups discussions and interviews throughout the summer. In mid October, axis will host a seminar to discuss the key themes that have emerged over the course of this research – a day where we can chat about and discuss all this valuable arts information and ask the question: What Next?
 



Sing Again 

6th October 2009 to 27th November 2009
Following the huge success of the ‘Sing’ project in 2008. axis will again be offering the opportunity for people to workshop with singers from and perform alongside the National Chamber Choir in a special performance in axis.
