Elysium Nevada

ELYSIUM NEVADA, nominated best new play in Irish Times 2010 Theatre Awards, is set in a retirement home not far from Las Vegas. Two grumpy old men sit and gaze at the desert as they reflect on their lives and times. Their dialogue is salty and richly comic, reminiscent of The Odd Couple 40 years on. With the awakening of a mysterious woman nearby, surprising new truths are revealed giving a poignant insight into their lives and a fascinating conclusion.

Young Makers

axis have been invited to perform as part of Young Makers, an international youth arts exhibition running for three weeks in May 2012. This touring exhibition starts out in Cork in January, heads to Kilkenny and finishes up in Dublin. Our showcase, a live performance of original song, music, spoken word and dance will mark the end of this exhibition and workshop series. In the lead up to this, a group of young people from Ballymun will engage in a month-long workshop series facilitated by artist and performer Elayne Harrington.

Lost and Found

Forum for Arts Ballymun present a group exhibition as part of their series of biannual exhibitions in axis. The theme for this new group exhibition expresses the notion of reclaiming lost, forgotten or discontinued art options involving 10 local artists. It offers an opportunity of realising those imaginings – dormant ‘till now. Art lives in the imagination – it is not born of it – and that is where its presence becomes manifest. In truth, nothing in heaven or earth can provide one with the means of acquiring it, for it is a given.
